We say: as cold as a stone. Why are stones cold? They usually adopt the temperature of their surrounding, like chameleons. When it’s sunny they are hot, when it’s wind they are cold. We also say: to have a heart of stone or Stone dead. The truth is we have no idea about stone life. It seems to rest forever in one place, untouched and solid. But if we decide to observe their secret lives we will see they move. Maybe not as fast as a snail as they are never in a rush, always pretty relaxed. A stone can be your best friend. Can always be with you, in your pocket, firm and loyal. When you feel lonely you can hold it in your hand and feel the warmth of its heart. As hot as a stone.
